For gamers, the LG 34GP83A-B monitor is a direct replacement for the popular LG 34GK950F. However, it has an even more impressive 1ms GtG response time, and G-SYNC certified compatibility than the 34″ 3440×1440 144Hz Nano IPS panel.

The refresh rate of 144hz can be overclocked to 160hz VESA DisplayHDR 400 Certified.
The LG 34GN850 model, which has the same characteristics as the LG 34GP83A-B, but costs $200 more, is also available.
This is the only change between the two models, save from a slightly different logo design on the back of the monitor and a somewhat different OSD menu structure.
Exceptional Picture Quality
The LG 34GP83A-B, which utilizes LG’s Nano IPS screen, produces vivid and punchy colours covering 98% of the DCI-P3 colour gamut (about 135% of sRGB).
A large colour gamut can make sRGB content (including most games and web content) appear over-saturated.
As a result, sRGB material on the LG 34GP83A-B monitor can readily be displayed in an emulated picture mode.
Using this mode, you’ll enjoy a more accurate colour representation for sRGB material by limiting the colour output to sRGB. However, you should know that the monitor’s brightness level is not locked in this mode.
Colours are accurate, consistent, and stunning whether you use sRGB or DCI-P3 content in the LG 34GP83A-B.
With a brightness of 400 nits and also a static contrast ratio of 1,000:1, the monitor is more than enough even in brightly light rooms.
The contrast ratio is not a strong point for IPS panel displays, as it is for all IPS panel displays. The LG 34GP83A-B‘s blacks aren’t quite as deep as those on VA-panel monitors.
Although VA monitors offer drawbacks, such as slower pixel response times and less uniform colours, they also have advantages.
With 178° wide viewing angles, you can watch the LG 34GP83A-B from any angle without sacrificing visual quality (colour, brightness, or contrast).
Furthermore, the 34-inch monitor’s 34′′ screen has an ideal pixel density thanks to the 34401440 resolution.
You don’t need to scale text or details because the screen has about 110 pixels per inch of resolution.
The 21:9 ultrawide format enhances the immersiveness of compatible games, films, and movies and provides an additional horizontal workspace for productivity and editing.
In addition, HDR (High Dynamic Range) capability is available on the LG 34GP83A-B display, however, for a noticeable improvement in HDR picture quality, a monitor would need to have significantly higher brightness and contrast ratio than is currently available.
However, the Acer Predator X35’s ($2,500) local dimming technology would be required.
Nevertheless, because of its wide colour gamut, some HDR material will seem a little better with the LG 34GP83A-B.
Extra Features
LG’s On-Screen Control application or the joystick located beneath the bottom bezel of the screen can be used to access the monitor’s OSD menu.
Colour temperature control (in 500K increments), four gammas presets, and six-axis hue/saturation modification are just some of the complex features available.
Pre-calibrated pictures and the Black Stabilizer tool (which makes items in shadows easier to see) are other helpful features (FPS, RTS, sRGB, Reader, and two customizable Gamer profiles).

The four response overdrive modes are off Normal, Fast, and Faster. However, fast and Faster are overly harsh and create inverse ghosting. Thus we only advocate utilizing the Normal mode.
There are no noticeable pixel overshoots while using the Normal mode in the LG 34GP83A-B, which removes all noticeable trailing behind fast-moving objects.

Refresh rates of 144Hz and lower are acceptable for games that support 10-bit colour depth, but we prefer 160Hz and 8-bit colour depth for the most part.
We strongly advise avoiding the use of 4:2:2 chroma subsampling because it results in smudgy and pixelated lettering.
LG 34GP83A-B is AMD FreeSync compatible and NVIDIA certified as G-SYNC consistent, with a VRR (variable refresh rate) range of 48-160Hz.
There are currently no other 3440×1440 ultrawide gaming monitors that have been certified by the industry.
As a result, most display tearing and stuttering are eliminated with a little input lag penalty (1ms) up to 160Hz, thanks to VRR.
IPS displays also have a feature known as IPS glow, which should be considered when using one. However, due to this panel technology’s ‘glowing’ around the screen’s corners, this is a foreseeable downside.

The AOC CU34G2X has a VA panel and a more excellent contrast ratio, but it has a longer response time and less-than-perfect VRR performance, so that it might be a better value (at around $400).
Cheaper 3440×1440 ultrawide monitors (about $450) that use the same type of IPS technology as the Acer XV340CKP don’t have a wide colour gamut or a rapid response time speed. A flat-screen panel is also present, which is not preferred by most users of ultrawide monitors.

Ultrawide gaming has never looked better as it does on the LG 34GP83A-B. There’s a massive bend in the screen that allows for incredible game immersion, and there’s a tonne of room to work. For better and more responsive interactivity, you can increase its refresh rate from its default rate of 16 frames per second (144 Hz) to 160 frames per second (160 Hz).
Even though the review points are reasonable, they aren’t ideal if you need to do work that demands accuracy; therefore, it’s not suitable for sharing content casually or in the middle of a game. A real HDR experience isn’t possible even though the picture quality improves enough to keep the glare at bay.
A low difference proportion causes blacks to appear dimmer in the obscurity of the image. Content creators should be pleased to learn that it includes full sRGB and fantastic Adobe RGB inclusion. We highly recommend this monitor for gaming!
